Discover one of the world's greatest natural wonders on a Niagara Falls holiday. Take in the plunging falls as the sheer volume of water falls into the gorge below. Certainly one of the world’s most famous waterfalls, Niagara falls straddles the international border between Canada and the United States. The site is actually made up of three falls; Horseshoe Falls, American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls. Between them, almost 2500 cubic meters of water pours around 50 meters into the lakes below – that’s almost 500 swimming pools’ worth!
Although two of the three falls are on the United States side, Canada is home to the largest of the three, with approximately 90% of the Niagara River flowing over Horseshoe Falls. Spend a Niagara Falls holiday taking in the natural wonder – you can decide whether to simply look and explore or to get stuck into the outdoor activities available. Venture right up to the foot of the falls on a boat cruise (waterproof ponchos are given out as you don’t get wet when you get closer to the waterfall). Niagara Falls tours are a great opportunity to take a helicopter ride above the tumult for a sweeping birds eye view over the falls and the Niagara River. Round off your Niagara Falls holiday with lunch from the viewpoint of an overlooking restaurant.
Head over to the Niagara Falls History Museum and learn more about the town of Niagara Falls and its history - well worth a stop on a Niagara Falls tour. Located in the old Stamford Township Hall which dates back to 1874, this museum has recently undergone major renovations to create a space for interactive exhibits that make uncovering the history of Niagara all the more fun for all ages. The history museum includes several galleries to walk around at your own pace, plus a theatre which often shows films about the waterfalls and various topics explored in the galleries themselves.
Feeling peckish? Make lunch time one to remember at the Top of the Falls restaurant. Offering diners a spectacular view of the top of Niagara Falls through its panoramic glass windows and from its outdoor dining area, Top of the Falls is a highly recommended stop on a Niagara Falls tour. Serving classic American favourites including park-inspired burgers, fish and chips, and cheesecake for dessert. There’s also a selection of vegan and vegetarian options to be enjoyed here too.
