Escorted tours and holidays to the Costa Brava

Sant Feliu De Guíxols Costa Brava

Stretching from the French border southwards, Costa Brava in Spain is known for its stunning natural beauty and delightful towns and cities, almost all of which are filled with historic and cultural attractions.

Costa Brava holidays can include everything from exploring the hidden coves of Pineda de Mar to private tours of the Dali Theatre Museum. And with Newmarket Holidays’ Northern Spain tours, you can explore the various settlements of this gorgeous region, from the buzzing nightlife of Lloret de Mar to the more idyllic, family friendly surroundings of Malgrat de Mar.

It's not all beach resorts to rival the southern Costa Blanca, though. Subregions like Platia d’aro are defined by charming, cobbled streets and ancient buildings. Those inspired by natural and human art are also in luck, with numerous botanical gardens dotted up and down the coastal region, as well as plenty of opportunities to delve into the work of the region’s most famous son, Salvador Dali. With that said, no Costa Brava tour is complete without some lounging on the beach – whether that’s in the quiet Tossa de Mar, on the stunning Cap de Creus peninsula, or at the ever-popular Santa Susanna resort, is up to you.

Salted Fish Costa Brava

Food & Drink on the Costa Brava

Seafood and fish is predictably great on the Costa Brava.

However, sea bream is probably the most loved by the locals, especially when baked in salt. The salt turns into a crust which is removed before serving, meaning you get all the succulent flavour without the bite.

Under the baking sun of the Costa Brava water is usually best, but as evening descends then the local cava is a must-try. The bubbly white wine is a Catalonia specialty, and with production usually done entirely locally, you’re sure to find a tipple that’s both delicious and easy on the wallet.

Thanks to the food culture here simplicity is often all you need for an unforgettable snack, which is definitely the case with pa amb tomaquet. Bread, olive oil, and tomato is all that’s needed to make this dish, but the use of fresh, locally sourced ingredients is what transforms it into something divine.
