A wonderful day awaits you today. After breakfast at your hotel, you'll board the coach to begin the journey to the gardens at Keukenhof. Here some seven million flowers carpet the ground in a breath-taking horticultural display that attracts visitors from around the world each year. Wander the pathways that meander through this floral paradise, perhaps stopping in one of the gardens’ restaurants and cafes for lunch. You can even take an optional canal boat ride (payable locally) along the waterways that thread their way through the stunning gardens before returning to your hotel for dinner this evening.

The delightful villages of Holland's windmill-dotted landscape and the reclaimed Zuider Zee form the background to this morning’s tour. Stroll the pretty streets of the historic fishing village of Volendam – once trodden by the likes of Picasso and Renoir – and catch a glimpse of Dutch life through the ages in its preserved traditional houses. You’ll also enjoy behind-the-scenes insights into one of Holland’s most celebrated crafts with a wooden shoemaking demonstration, and cheese-tasting session, at a traditional local business (typically a working farm).

Later this afternoon you’ll return to your hotel to relax, freshen up and have dinner in the surrounding area.

After a leisurely breakfast, you’ll depart your hotel and travel a short distance to The Hague, a northern coastal city and the country’s administrative and political centre. As it’s home to an assortment of historical buildings and museums, as well as a charming old town and beautiful beaches, there’s no shortage of things to see and do. Following time in the historical centre there will be time to enjoy the beach with its famous pier and selection of restaurants and shops.

Later in the day, you’ll return to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport to catch the flight back to the UK.

Across this two-hour excursion, you’ll explore the political heart of The Netherlands from its historic palaces to the heart of the Dutch parliament. Discover the palatial seats of the Dutch royals, learn about the Oranje dynasty’s lasting impact on the world, and take in the riverside Binnenhof, the home of the Dutch government.

You’ll also be introduced to a handful of the city’s delightful cultural attractions including Mauritshuis, which showcases the work of renowned artists Rembrandt and Vermeer, and Gevangenpoort Museum, housed in a medieval prison (entrance is payable locally). As you wander The Hague’s historic plazas and bustling streets, you might even bump into a minister or two.

Enjoy a final breakfast at your hotel before spending the rest of the morning at leisure on the Hague's nearby beaches. Head to Scheveningen, the city's famous beachfront district, and set out under your own steam to make the most of the nearby promenades, piers and seafront. Along the city's 11 kilometre stretch of coastline, you'll find plenty of things to keep you entertained from charming cafés and resorts to quiet sandy beaches. After a relaxing few hours spent by the sea, reboard your coach for the delightful villages and windmill-dotted landscapes of The Netherlands' reclaimed Zuider Zee.

Rules may have changed since you last travelled to European Union countries as well as Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. The following are useful guidelines which will help you prepare for your next adventure. You do require government issued passport to travel.

Names - It is very important that all passenger names are exactly as per your passport although we do not require middle names.

Passport - Your passport must meet two requirements to travel to an EU country and to Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein. It must be: Less than 10 years old on the day you return home (please check the "date of issue") and valid for at least 3 months after the day you return home (please check the "expiry date").

Visa - You do not need a visa for short trips to most EU countries, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. You’ll be able to stay for up to 90 days in any rolling 180-day period.

European Entry/Exit Scheme (EES) - EES is the new electronic entry/exit system for European countries which will replace the physical stamping of your passport. The expected date for its introduction is 10 November 2024. From this date, it means that when you go through passport control on arrival, you will need to produce your passport for checking as you do now, but also have your photograph taken and fingerprints scanned. The system will register your entry on arrival and your exit when departing. You will only need to do this on your first entry into Europe after the scheme starts.
Please note: Irish passport holders or British Passport holders with an EU residency are currently excluded. For those travelling via Eurostar, there is a dual British and French/Belgian) border in operational at St Pancras International. Therefore the EES system will be in place at the station, you will not need to be checked again on arrival at the other side. For further information please visit the ABTA website here.

European Travel Information & Authorisation System (ETIAS) - Due to commence in 2025, all citizens of the United Kingdom will require a ETIAS electronic form completed prior to their arrival into the EU and Schengen member countries.
