Discover powerful landscapes, exotic wildlife and thrilling activities on a trip to southern Africa's Victoria Falls.
Set on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe, Victoria Falls, one of the seven natural wonders of the world, has long impressed visitors from far and wide. The Scottish explorer David Livingstone reached the falls in 1855, making him the first European to see the natural landmark. Standing 108 metres tall and more than a mile wide above the Zambezi River, it is one of the largest waterfalls in the world, and was named after Queen Victoria.
Aside from marvelling at the world-famous falls, there are several other enjoyable things to do on Victoria Falls tours. With its location on the Zambezi River, the area surrounding the falls is home to a diverse array of wildlife, including the 'Big Five', making it a great place to go on safari. Visit the 200-metre-long Victoria Falls Bridge, a true feat of engineering, or enjoy a laid-back cruise on the river - particularly stunning at sunset. For the ultimate once-in-a-lifetime experience, board a helicopter for a ride above the dramatic falls. Whether you are seeking exciting adventures or a serene escape, our holidays to Botswana and Victoria Falls are brimming with incredible things to do and see.

Having the chance to see the Falls itself is undoubtedly very special, but there are a range of other experiences to be had in the area. From thrilling once-in-a-lifetime activities to world-class wildlife watching, here are some of the highlights of our Victoria Falls holiday packages.
Due to its history as a former British colony, Zimbabwe has adopted a few habits familiar to UK travellers, including eating porridge for breakfast and drinking tea mid-morning and after dinner. The British influence also means that the country's dishes tend to be less spicy than those of its neighbours. Portuguese traders also left their mark on Zimbabwe's cuisine, with peanut butter becoming a staple ingredient used in everyday cooking.
Popular dishes in Zimbabwe include the humble mupunga unedovi – a simple mixture of rice, peanut butter and salt – and dovi – a stew made with peanuts, garlic, onion, vegetables and meat such as goat, chicken or lamb. The dish is usually eaten with rice, mashed potatoes or sadza, which is an important staple made by mixing cornmeal and water into a thick paste. Those with a sweet tooth should look out for chikenduza, or candy cakes. This simple but delicious traditional dessert consists of muffin-shaped cakes topped with pink icing.
If you would like to try these dishes on your Victoria Falls tours, there are a number of nearby cafes and restaurants to choose from. The Wild Horizons Lookout Cafe offers both traditional and modern dishes, including vegetarian and vegan options, and has a superb view of the Zambezi River. Jungle Junction offers fusion dining and evening entertainment, while the elegant MaKuwa-Kuwa Restaurant overlooks a watering hole, making it the perfect spot to dine with views of the local wildlife.
