Resort-based, freelance opportunities
For our customers, discovering and exploring the world’s must-see, must-do destinations on a vast range of carefully crafted, tremendous value holidays with one of the UK’s most respected, independent escorted tour operators is made even more special by our fantastic tour managers. Following a particularly challenging period for the travel industry, we are now seeing a very material growth in demand from our customers to see the world again so we’re eager to grow our team of Tour Managers with passionate tour leaders with extensive knowledge and experience, to bring their personality and expertise to our tours. We currently have opportunities to lead our customers at our events (Wimbledon, Edinburgh Tattoo and Andre Rieu concerts) and on all our European tours (specifically interested if you have led tours in Portugal, Spain, and Italy). In addition, we are looking for highly experienced Tour Managers who have led Solo and Premier groups. In addition to this, we are actively seeking enthusiastic Tour Managers with exceptional knowledge of Scotland, the Highlands, and the surrounding regions.
Travelling the world with an award-winning escorted tour operator is a fantastic opportunity for a Tour Manager. But it IS hard work and it certainly comes with responsibilities and high expectations. In addition to adding colour and life to our amazing itineraries by sharing knowledge of history, culture and people of the destination, you also liaise with the hoteliers and other local suppliers to take care of small logistical arrangements that may arise. You’ll be friendly and approachable to customers. It’s important to us that each tour manager shows their own personality and adds their own kind of sparkle to managing a tour, always with intention to ensure our customers enjoy their holiday, and with the tour manager ready to assist should something not meet their expectations. Going the extra mile is second nature for this special kind of travel expert. You will be the face of Newmarket Holidays, embodying our commitment to exceptional customer service.
You’ll have previous experience of tour management, fantastic destination knowledge and always open to learning more. You’ll need great listening and questioning skills, and be a natural when it comes to excellent planning and organisation. You’ll have bundles of self-confidence, be articulate and be adept at recognising the needs and tone of different groups of customers, adapting style of delivery, as necessary. You will be a natural problem solver. You’ll also enjoy good health and personal physical fitness to cope with the demands of the job and the, sometimes long, working hours.
